Possible Alternative solutions:
- Choose to embed the object as opposed to linking, see this Knowledgebase Solution BB520712 for more information
- Re-install the standard components from Microsoft Office XP for viewing .JPG, .GIF or .TIF formatted images per Microsoft's solution KB817095
- Change the File association
- For Windows 2000 and 2003:
- Open Windows Explorer
- Select Tools, Folder Options from the menu bar
- Select the File Types tab
- Highlight JPEG and check which program it is associated with on the bottom of the screen
- If not the correct program, click Change
- Browse to and select correct program in which to view this type of file
- Click OK
- Click Close
- Repeat steps 4 through 8 for GIF and TIF
- For Windows XP:
- Open Windows Explorer and browse for the file
- Right-click on the file and select Open With, Paint
- Once the file is opened in Microsoft Paint, select File, Save as from the menu bar
- Save the file as a bitmap (BMP) image
- Attach the bitmap image
