 Possible Alternative solutions:

  • Choose to embed the object as opposed to linking, see this Knowledgebase Solution BB520712 for more information
  • Re-install the standard components from Microsoft Office XP for viewing .JPG, .GIF or .TIF formatted images per Microsoft's solution KB817095
  • Change the File association
    • For Windows 2000 and 2003:
      • Open Windows Explorer
      • Select Tools, Folder Options from the menu bar
      • Select the File Types tab
      • Highlight JPEG and check which program it is associated with on the bottom of the screen
      • If not the correct program, click Change
      • Browse to and select correct program in which to view this type of file
      • Click OK
      • Click Close
      • Repeat steps 4 through 8 for GIF and TIF
    • For Windows XP:
      • Open Windows Explorer and browse for the file
      • Right-click on the file and select Open With, Paint
      • Once the file is opened in Microsoft Paint, select File, Save as from the menu bar
      • Save the file as a bitmap (BMP) image
      • Attach the bitmap image
