Error: Error activating the marketing effort: An error occurred before executing the process ''Marketing Effort Segment Record Count Calculation'':Error calculating the segment record counts: There is already an object named ''##MKTSEGMENTATIONFIND"

When running acknowledgements, you may get an error:

An error occurred before executing the process 'Marketing Effort Segment Record Count Calculation' : Error calculating the segment record counts:  There is already an object named '##MKTSEGMENTATIONFIND_XXXX' in the database.

This may occur for a few reasons: if you have edited a letter and pasted copied text into the letter, if you have selected to Merge recipient information with a letter, but have not defined any mail content, or if you have duplicate nodes in your merge fields.
The most common cause of this error is text  that is copied/pasted into the content editor.
  1. Cut/Copy the text from the editor
  2. Paste into Notepad
  3. Paste back into the content editor
  4. Run Acknowledgements again
You may also encounter this error if you have selected to Merge recipient information with a letter, but have not defined any mail content.
  1. Under Letter Content, select to Export a .CSV file of the recipient information
  2. OR Under Write your letter's content, click Add to add mail content
  3. Run Acknowledgements again.

Follow these steps to remove the duplicate nodes in the export definition. Duplicate nodes are identified by being followed with (1) or (2) to indicate the number of duplicate nodes that are present.

  1. Go to Marketing and Communications, Acknowledgements.
  2. Click the down arrows next to the letter you need to edit.
  3. Edit the merge fields. This will open the export definition.
  4. Note the fields on the right in use under the duplicate nodes.
  5. Highlight the field and hit the red x at the top to remove it.  After removing all the fields under a duplicate node, the node will disappear.
  6. Locate the field again in the middle column.
  7. In the right column, click on the section that this field belongs in.  For example, if we are pulling Constituent\First name, in the right, click on Constituent under Constituent Marketing Information.
  8. Then, click the right arrow to move the field over.  No new node will be created.  Instead, there will be one node with each field under it.
  9. Save the export definition.
  10. Finish and close or Save.
  11. Run the acknowledgements again.
For screenshots to help with the duplicate node steps above, see this blog post.

Remove the most recent letter(s) that you added to your Acknowledgments. Then log out of Altru and log back in and re-add the letters
  1. Click Marketing and Communications. Click Acknowledgments
  2. Click the green arrow next to the letter
  3. Click remove
  4. Log out of Altru and log back in
  5. Re-add the letter
    1. Click Marketing and Communications. Click Acknowledgments
    2. Click Add
  6. Re-run the acknowledgments process

If all of the above steps don't work, try to clear the browser history and run Acknowledgements again.

If that still doesn't resolve, log out of Altru and back in.  Then, run Acknowledgements again.
