The Address Verification System (AVS) is a fraud prevention tool offered by most merchants that matches the address entered by the donor against what the credit card issuer has on file. When processing an offline transaction through Batch in The Raiser's Edge, what address information is verified?
When processing credit cards in Batch, the AVS settings do not apply. Therefore, regardless of the level, the AVS settings will not be used for The Raiser’s Edge batch transactions, only transactions processed online (i.e. transactions processed through Blackbaud NetCommunity, NetSolutions, or Blackbaud Online Express).
Processing credit cards through Batch does require that the constituent have a complete address populated on their Bio 1 tab. The address is not checked against the address on the donor's bank account, but the Country, State/Province, and ZIP/Postal Code must be valid entries.
