Error: An error occurred before executing the process 'Export Process' : Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier - when exporting a smart query with an export definition

Users are able create smart queries and then export these out of CRM either through the Export type of Ad-hoc query, Smart query, or by using the Export Definition option.  When using the export definition option to export smart query results, however, users receive the error below when starting the process:

An error occurred before executing the process 'Export Process' : Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier.
We are currently evaluating this issue and will update this article when we have more information.

Alt solution: In the Export process use an export type of Ad-hoc query or Smart query, rather than an Export Definition, to export the information.
