First, you must find all the transactions from the previous calendar/fiscal year:
  1. Click the arrow next to Queries in the menu bar
  2. Click Manage Queries
  3. Select a category you wish to store these queries (ex. Base)
  4. Choose New Query under the Tasks menu
  5. Name the query Transactions from Last Year
  6. For the Starting Criteria choose Base for the category and All Constituents as the query
  7. Choose Journal Entries in the Data Return Type menu
  8. In the Available Fields area of the query screen, choose Commonly Used Fields and select Journal Entry Date
  9. Fill in the date range you wish to use (either the previous calendar year OR the previous fiscal year in mm/dd/yyyy format)
  10. In the Available Fields area of the query screen, choose Commonly Used Fields and select Individual Transaction Received
  11. Fill in Greater than or equal to $1
  12. Under Tasks choose Save and View Queries
Now, you will use the previous query to find those who gave a specific cumulative amount:
  1. Click the arrow next to Queries in the menu bar
  2. Click Manage Queries
  3. Select a category you wish to store these queries (ex. Base)
  4. Choose New Query under the Tasks menu
  5. Name the query Cumulative [amount] Last Year
  6. For the Starting Criteria choose the category and query for the list of transactions you created in the first part of this process
  7. Choose Accounts in the Data Return Type menu
  8. In the Available Fields area of the query screen, choose Cumulative Amounts and select Cumulative Received
  9. Fill in Greater than or equal to the threshold you wish these constituents to meet (ex. 1000)
  10. Under Tasks choose Save and View Queries
Next, you must find all the transactions from the current calendar/fiscal year:
  1. Click the arrow next to Queries in the menu bar
  2. Click Manage Queries
  3. Select a category you wish to store these queries (ex. Base)
  4. Choose New Query under the Tasks menu
  5. Name the query Transactions from This Year
  6. For the Starting Criteria choose Base for the category and All Constituents as the query
  7. Choose Journal Entries in the Data Return Type menu
  8. In the Available Fields area of the query screen, choose Commonly Used Fields and select Journal Entry Date
  9. Fill in the date range you wish to use (either the current calendar year OR the current fiscal year in mm/dd/yyyy format)
  10. In the Available Fields area of the query screen, choose Commonly Used Fields and select Individual Transaction Received
  11. Fill in Greater than or equal to $1
  12. Under Tasks choose Save and View Queries
Now, you will use the previous query of transactions during the current time frame to find those who gave a specific cumulative amount:
  1. Click the arrow next to Queries in the menu bar
  2. Click Manage Queries
  3. Select a category you wish to store these queries (ex. Base)
  4. Choose New Query under the Tasks menu
  5. Name the query Cumulative [amount] This Year
  6. For the Starting Criteria choose the category and query for the list of transactions you created in the first part of this process
  7. Choose Accounts in the Data Return Type menu
  8. In the Available Fields area of the query screen, choose Cumulative Amounts and select Cumulative Received
  9. Fill in Greater than or equal to the threshold you wish these constituents to meet (ex. 1000)
  10. Under Tasks choose Save and View Queries
Lastly, you will create a compound query to subtract those who gave that cumulative amount in the current time frame from those who gave that amount in the previous time frame:
  1. Click the arrow next to Queries in the menu bar
  2. Click Manage Queries
  3. Select a category you wish to store these queries (ex. Base)
  4. Choose New Compound Query under the Tasks menu
  5. Name the query Gave [cumulative amount] Last Year but Not Yet This Year
  6. Choose Accounts in the Data Return Type menu
  7. Under Combine the Queries select Subtract
  8. For Query #1 choose the category and query for the query you created previously called Cumulative [amount] Last Year
  9. For Query #2 choose the category and query for the query you created previously called Cumulative [amount] This Year
