Deleted pledge recognition remains on Recognition History tab for constituent

When a pledge is created and assigned recognition credits, those credits are listed on the Recognition History tab in the Revenue and recognition area for the constituent.  However, if the pledge is subsequently deleted, the recognition credit for the pledge remains on the Recognition History tab.  The amount is changed to $0.00.  When users attempt to view the gift that the recognition is for, the receive the error:

Record does not exist.
Download and install the latest patch, which contains all fixes from previous patches. If you are running an older version, download and install the latest version and then the patch.
