How to add a Twitter feed to a Kintera Thon

You have an Essentials-based Kintera Thon event set up in Sphere and want to enable a Twitter feed.

To add your organization's Twitter feed to your event you need to first create a Twitter app through your organization's Twitter account:

GENERATE TWITTER WIDGET
  1. Go to http://twitter.com
  2. Log into your organization's Twitter account
  3. Click the Egg icon at the top and select Settings
  4. Select Widgets on the left
  5. Click Create New
  6. Enter your organization's Twitter handle in the Username field
  7. Leave all other options as-is and click Create Widget
  8. Copy the script that is generated in the lower right

ADD WIDGET TO EVENT
  1. Go to Communities > Special Events > Friends Asking Friends > Kintera Thon
  2. Hover over your event and select Website Info
  3. Click Website Features
  4. Scroll to the Event Social Media section
  5. Under Twitter, enter in a Twitter Widget Title for your feed
  6. In the Twitter Widget Script area, paste in the script generated from Twitter using steps above
  7. Click Save
  8. Go back to the Webinfo Checklist and click Publish This Event Now

If the twitter title links to Blackbaud's Twitter page:
  1. Navigate to Website Info > Website Design
  2. Paste the following into the Multi-Language Footer section
(Note: If you do not see the multi-language footer section, go to https://www.kintera.com/kintera_sphere/events/asp/webinfo_enableCustomFeatures.asp then refresh your Sphere page in Website Info > Website Design, you will now see the Multi-Language Footer section)

<script>
setTimeout(function() {
$('.twitterFeedTitle a').attr('href','insert url to twitter page here');
},500);
</script>
  1. Replace the text in red with the full url to your Twitter page for example: http://www.twitter.com/organizationtwitterhandle (be careful not to remove any quotations from the code)
  2. Return to the Webinfo Checklist and choose Publish This Event Now
