After sending a mass email from eTapestry, it can be helpful to know afterwards how many consituents actually opened the email. If you sent your email as an Advanced Mass Email, you can view this statistic through a standard report in eTapestry called the Delivery Report. If you sent the email as a Basic Mass Email, there will be no way to view the number of constituents that opened the email; that is only possible through Advanced Mass Email.
To see how many of your constituents opened the email, follow these steps:
1. Click Reports in the menu 2. Click eTapestry Standard Reports 3. Click the Delivery Report on the right hand side 4. Click the Mailing ID of the mass email you want to view statistics for 5. Click the Tracked Opens link towards the bottom of the Delivery Report 6. Scroll to the bottom of the report where you will see options for creating a custom account query in the lower right hand corner 7. Give the query a name (ex: constituents who opened email) and select a category to store the query under 8. Click Create to create the custom account query 9. Click Queries in the menu 10. Click the category you stored the custom query under 11. Click Preview underneath the query you created to run the query; when the query finishes running, you'll see a list of the accounts that opened the mass email and the Total Results at the top of the query results page will tell you the number that opened the email
The reason we need to create a query from the report, and then run the query to get a count on the number of individuals that opened the email, is due to the fact that the report itself will list constituents once for every open. For example, if you sent the email to John Smith, and John Smith opened the email three separate times from his inbox, he will be listed three times on the report. If we create a query of the accounts listed from the report instead and then run the query, each account will only be counted once in the results, regardless of the number of times they opened the email.
