eTapestry has several standard queries that you can use to find these groups of donors. These can be accessed by going to Queries > Manage Queries > LYBUNT & SYBUNT > then click Preview beneath the appropriate query.
  • LYBUNT = Last Year But Unfortunately Not This
  • SYBUNT = Some Year But Unfortunately Not This
  • LFYBUNT = Last Fiscal Year But Unfortunately Not This
  • SFYBUNT  = Some Fiscal Year But Unfortunately Not This
If you want to find lapsed donors in a more specific date range, you can build your own queries to find those donors.  Let's say you need to find donors that gave in 2015, but did not give in 2016.

First, find everyone that donated in 2015:
  1. Click the Queries > Manage Queries
  2. Select a category that you want to store this query in (Ex: Base)
  3. Click New Query under the Tasks menu
  4. Name the query Donors That Gave During 1/1/2015 - 12/31/2015
  5. Set the Starting Query to Base: All Constituents - A
  6. Set the Data Return Type to Accounts
  7. Select Match Each Criteria under the Criteria Matching field
  8. Select Commonly Used Fields from the Browse Fields drop down menu
  9. Select Journal Entry Date from the list of links
  10. Type 1/1/2015 and 12/31/2015 into the start and end date fields
  11. Select Individual Transaction Received from the list of links
  12. Choose Greater Than Or Equal To .01
  13. Click Save And - View Queries
Second, find those that DID give in 2016
  1. Click the Queries > Manage Queries
  2. Select a category that you want to store this query in (Ex: Base)
  3. Click New Query under the Tasks menu
  4. Name the query Donors That Gave During 1/1/2016 - 12/31/2016
  10. Type 1/1/2016 and 12/31/2016 into the start and end date fields
  11. Select Individual Transaction Received from the list of links
  12. Choose Greater Than Or Equal To .01
  13. Click Save And - View Queries
Third, subtract those that gave in 2016 from those that gave in 2015:
  1. Click the Queries > Manage Queries
  2. Select a category that you want to store this query in (Ex: Base)
  3. Click New Compound Query under the tasks menu
  4. Name the query Donors That Gave In 2015, but not in 2016
  5. Set the Data Return Type to Accounts
  6. Select Subtract under How Would You Like The Results Of Each Query To Interact?
  7. Set Query 1 Category to the category you built the query in
  8. Set the Query to Donors That Gave During 1/1/2015 - 12/31/2015 - A
  9. Set Query 2 Category to the category you built the query in
  10. Set the Query to Donors That Gave During 1/1/2016 - 12/31/2016 - A
  11. Click Save And – Preview
Now you are left with people that did give in 2015, but did not donate in 2016.  You can customize the date ranges in these queries to find lapsed donors in any date range that you need.

Tip from Support: The steps above will return basic account information about these lapsed donors. If you want to see details about the individual transactions given in the first date range (2015) you can set the first query and final compound query to return Journal Entries instead! Keep the second date range (2016) as returning Accounts. We wouldn't want the second query to return Journal Entries because then the two date range queries wouldn't have anything in common to subtract in the compound query.
