First you will need to create a query to find donations for the past year :
 
  1. Click Queries
  2. Click the category that you want to store this query in
  3. Click New Query under the tasks menu
  4. Name the query Past Year Donations (or alternately you could name it for the year you are running, ie. 2016 Donations)
  5. Set the Starting criteria to Base/All Constituents
  6. Set the Data Return Type to Journal Entries
  7. Under the Criteria Matching heading, select Match Each Criteria
  8. Choose Commonly Used Fields from the Available Fields drop down menu and click on Journal Entry Date
  9. Fill in your date range (ie. 1/1/2016 and 12/31/2016)
  10. Choose Commonly Used Fields from the Available Fields drop down menu and click on Individual Transaction Received
  11. Select Greater Than or Equal To and type .01
  12. Click Save and View Queries
 
Next, you will need to create a letter template in eTapestry (if one does not already exist) using the steps listed at How To Create a Communications Template. If you would like to include a list of each of the donor's gifts throughout the year, you can do so using the Entry List Widget. The steps to include the widget in your template are available at How to create a template to list the details of multiple transactions for a constituent.
 
Once your template is set up, you will need to generate these letters as PDF or Word documents using the steps listed at How to generate letters from a Communications template.
