In this example we are going to find donors that have given the General Fund from 2011-2013, but you can substitute another Fund or date range of your choosing.

First, query to find donors to the General Fund in 2011:

  1. Click Queries
  2. Click Manage Queries
  3. Click the category that you want to store this query in
  4. Under the Tasks menu, click New Query
  5. Name the query All Donors to the General Fund 2011
  6. Set the Starting criteria to Base/All Constituents
  7. Set the Data Return Type to Accounts
  8. Under Criteria Matching select Match Each Criteria
  9. Choose Commonly Used Fields from the Available Fields drop down menu and click on Journal Entry Date, Individual Transaction Received, and Funds
  10. For Journal Entry Date, fill in your calendar or fiscal year dates for 2011
  11. For Individual Transaction Received, select Greater Than Or Equal To, and type in .01
  12. For Funds, mark the checkbox next to General
  13. Click Save and View Queries
Second, query to find donors to the General Fund in 2012 that also gave in 2011:
  1. Click Queries
  2. Click Manage Queries
  3. Click a category that you want to store this query in
  4. Under the Tasks menu, click New Query
  5. Name the query All Donors to the General Fund in both 2011 and 2012
  6. Set the Starting criteria to the query you just made called All Donors to the General Fund 2011
  7. Set the Data Return Type to Accounts
  8. Under Criteria Matching select Match Each Criteria
  9. Choose Commonly Used Fields from the Available Fields drop down menu and click on Journal Entry Date, Individual Transaction Received, and Funds
  10. For Journal Entry Date, fill in your calendar or fiscal year dates for 2012
  11. For Individual Transaction Received, select Greater Than Or Equal To, and type in .01
  12. For Funds, mark the checkbox next to General
  13. Click Save and View Queries

Third, query to find donors to the General Fund in 2013 that also gave in 2011 and 2012:

  1. Click Queries
  2. Click Manage Queries
  3. Click a category that you want to store this query in
  4. Under the Tasks menu, click New Query
  5. Name the query All Donors to the General Fund in 2011, 2012, and 2013
  6. Set the Starting criteria to the query you just made called All Donors to the General Fund in both 2011 and 2012
  7. Set the Data Return Type to Accounts
  8. Under Criteria Matching select Match Each Criteria
  9. Choose Commonly Used Fields from the Available Fields drop down menu and click on Journal Entry Date, Individual Transaction Received, and Funds
  10. For Journal Entry Date, fill in your calendar or fiscal year dates for 2013
