Query or merge fields show total revenue amount, rather than donation amount

When patrons buy more than one thing in one transaction, their total revenue amount is a sum of the donation, membership, merchandise, etc.  It is the total they paid for that entire transaction.  In some cases, like in acknowledgement letters, you only want the donation amount or the membership amount they gave, not the total amount.  This solution explains the fields needed to get the individual application amount, rather than the total revenue amount.
 In Query:
  1. Under Revenue, click on Application Details.
  2. In the middle of the screen, click on Amount.
  3. Move this to Results Fields to Display.
  4. Then, filter on the application you want (such as donation, membership, etc).
  5. In the middle, click on application or type.
  6. Move this field to Include Records Where.
  7. Set the criteria equal to donation or gift, if you only wanted the donation amount for example.

In Export Definitions (in Acknowledgements, appeal mailings, or in an export definition for an export):
  1. In the mailing, click Edit next to merge fields.
  2. On the left, click on the Revenue node (Revenue Marketing or Revenue under Constituent Marketing Information > Constituent).
  3. Under Revenue, click on Application Details on the left.
  4. In the middle, click on Amount and move this field to the right using the right arrow.
  5. In the export criteria screen that comes up, define the number of amounts you want in number to export.  Most likely, this will be 1 if you are doing a mailing.
  6. Click Ok.
  7. Another export criteria screen will pop up.  In the filter section, choose selected application details.
  8. On the left, click on application or type.  Drag this to the right Include Records Where section.
  9. Set the criteria equal to the type of revenue amount you want to see.  For example, choose equal to donation or gift if you wanted donation amount.
