When clicking a hyperlink that begins with "mailto:" from a NetCommunity web page or email, a new email does not automatically open with a properly populated "To" address.
A "mailto" hyperlink is designed to automatically create a new email when clicked, and populate the email address from the mailto link to the "To" field of the relevant email client.
Clicking a mailto hyperlink tells the Operating System [e.g. Windows, Mac OS] on the computer where the hyperlink was clicked to open the email client that is set as the default email program within the Operating System. If the computer in question does not have an email program installed and defined as the default email program for that computer's Operating System, then the link will not do anything when clicked from that computer.
All that Blackbaud NetCommunity does is create the appropriate HTML for the mailto link [example mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org]. If the link does not automatically open an email program on a particular computer when clicked, but appears to be correctly formatted, please contact the IT personnel responsible for that specific computer for further assistance.
