These steps below should be done PRIOR to updating to 7.94 so you can prepare the data to change after you upgrade. If you have already upgraded, it's advised you install The Raiser's Edge 7.93 on a spare workstation and attach a backup of your database prior to the update of 7.94. If you are hosted, then you can request a backup and install The Raiser's Edge 7.93 on a spare workstation and follow the below steps:

Export the relevant phone information in 7.93:
The below details the steps for creating an export if your doing this import based on your data on version 7.93 so you can update the phone information when you upgrade to 7.94
  1. Create a constituent export (advised not to export as Comma Seperated Values)
  2. Export Constituent Information, Import ID
  3. Export Constituent Information, Constituent ID
  4. Export Address, Preferred Address, Phones, Import ID
  5. On the Phones screen:
    • Select 1 in the For each Preferred Address, enter the number of Phones to export
    • Choose Selected Phones and choose all telephone types, ordered by the priority of the particular phone type to be marked as primary for 7.94 (For example: Home, Mobile)
    • Click OK
  6. Export Address, Preferred Address, Phones, Phone Type and Phone Number (phone number is optional)
  7. In the Right frame, highlight Preferred Address
  8. In the Available Field to Export window, Highlight Address, Preferred Address, Phones, Import ID again, and Click Select. (This will export the phones again using a separate set of parameters)
  9. On the Phones screen:
    • Select 1 in the For each Preferred Address, enter the number of Phones to export
    • Choose Selected Phones and repeat the above but for for email types (For example: Email, Email 1)
    • Click OK
  10. Export Address, Preferred Address, Phones, Phone Type and Phone Number (phone number is optional)
  11. Repeat steps 7, 8, 9, and 10 for each phone type for Fax types, Links, then Others (these are the tabs in 7.94 Bio 1 tab)
  12. Click Export Now
  13. Proceed to the next section for importing
Import the relevant phone information as Primary in 7.94:
  1. Open the Excel file you created from above
  2. Add in the column 'PhoneIsPrimary' for each phone type in the export file (For example, after the first phone type then after the second and so on)
  3. Set the value to 'Yes' for all fields
  4. Once on 7.94, go to Administration then Import
  5. Under the Constituent node, select Constituent
    • Under 'What do you want to do?' select Update Existing Records
    • Under 'Options' select Validate Data Only
    • Select the CSV file that we are going to import
  6. Go to the 'Fields' tab
    • Map up the fields from the export such as Constituent Import ID, Constituent ID, Phone Import ID, Phone Type and Phone Number by highlighting the field then clicking on 'Phone Number' at the left hand side and double clicking on the respective field.
    • Repeat the above for all Import IDs/Phone Types.
    • Ensure the extensions are correct. For example, the first Phone Import ID and Phone Type will have an extension of 00. The second Phone Import ID and Phone Type will be 02 and so on.
  7. Select the desired options in the 'Summary Tab'
  8. Click on 'Validate Now'
    • Ensure you have no exceptions or if you do have exceptions, have a look on knowledgebase for the error
  9. Once verified, go to the 'General' tab and untick 'Validate Data Only'
  10. Click on 'Update Now' at the bottom right
