How to globally mark phones as Inactive in The Raiser’s Edge 7.94 and up

With the new features release in The Raiser’s Edge version 7.94 and up, it’s now possible to mark phones as Inactive in the Phone Grid. This allows users to hold on to historical contact information for phones and emails, while clearly indicating that they should no longer be used. This can be accomplished through an export, import process.
Note : Before you proceed with the following instructions, back up the database. If your organization integrates multiple Blackbaud products, refer to the Additional Requirements section of the backup article.
1.       Create a Constituent Query of all constituents with phones/emails to be marked inactive (BB19082)
2.       Go to Admin > Import > Constituent Phone > New
3.       On the General tab, mark the option to Create Import File
4.       Under Options, click Include… and search for the query created in Step 1
5.       Mark to Include selected fields in the import file
6.       Under What file do you wish to create? Browse to a location to save the output file, and be sure to change the file type to Text Files. End your file name with “.csv” to save the file in Excel.
7.       Leave the rest of the defaults on the General tab
8.       Leave the defaults on the File Layout tab
9.       On the Fields tab, be sure to include the following fields:
               a.      Constituent ID
               b.      Phone Type
               c.      Phone Import ID
               d.      Is Inactive
               e.      Phone Number
10.   Review the Summary tab and click Create Now
11.   Browse to the location where the file was saved in Step 6 and open the file
12.   Sort the Excel file by Phone Type or Phone Number as needed to make it easier to edit. Feel free to delete any rows with data that does not need to be updated (although this is not required)
13.   In the PhoneIsInactive column, enter the value TRUE for any phone that should be inactive
14.   Save and close the CSV file
15.   Import the changes to the phones (BB2023) choosing to update existing records on the General tab
