The resolution depends on whether your software and database are hosted by Blackbaud or not:
  • Hosted:

    Try each of the following steps in the order listed until the issue is resolved:
    1. Configure Outlook in the hosting environment before configuring Outlook Integration.
    2. If your organization is already configured for Outlook integration:
      1. Log into The Raiser's Edge 7.
      2. Go to Tools, Microsoft Outlook.
      3. Select Help, Disabled items.
      4. Highlight Blackbaud RE7 Outlook Add-in and click the enable button.
         
  • Not Hosted:

    Try each of the following steps in the order listed until the issue is resolved:
     
    1. Ensure that the workstation with The Raiser's Edge 7 installed also has Microsoft Outlook 2003 or higher installed. If you are using Office 2007, also install Microsoft's CDO components.  
    2. If running Microsoft Vista or Windows 7 on the affected workstation, refer to 47091
    3. Add the Blackbaud RE7 Outlook Add-in checkbox in Outlook:
      • In Outlook 2010:
        1. In Outlook, select File, then Options.  
        2. Click Trust Center then Trust Center Settings...
        3. Click Macro Settings then unmark 'Apply Macro Security Settings to installed Add-ins'.
        4. Click OK
        5. Click Add-Ins
        6. From the bottom of the screen, click Go... next to Manage: Com Add-ins.  
        7. If the RE7Outlook.dll file is not listed, click Add. 
        8. Browse to and select the RE7Outlook.dll file.  
        9. Click OK.  
        10. Mark the 'Blackbaud RE7 Outlook Add-in'.  
        11. Click OK.
      • In Outlook 2007: 
        1. In Outlook, select Tools, Trust Center from the menu bar.  
        2. From the bottom of the screen, select Manage: Com Add-ins.
        3. Unmark 'Apply Macro Security Settings to installed Add-ins'.  
        4. Click Go.  
        5. If the RE7Outlook.dll file is not listed, click Add. 
        6. Browse to and select the RE7Outlook.dll file.  
        7. Click OK.  
        8. Mark the 'Blackbaud RE7 Outlook Add-in'.  
        9. Click OK.
      • Register RE7Outlook.DLL:
        1. Temporarily add the user having the issue to the local Administrators group, if not currently a member. 
        2. Log in as the affected Windows user. 
        3. If using Windows 7 or Windows Vista, turn off User Account Control (UAC) in order to register the .dll file.
        4. Register the RE7Outlook.DLL
        5. Log out as the affected Windows user. 
        6. Remove the Windows user from the Local Administrators group. 
        7. Repeat the steps to mark the Blackbaud RE7 checkbox in Outlook (step 1).

      • If Hotbar is installed, uninstall it through Add/Remove Programs. 
      • Close Outlook, edit the value data in the following registry key to show 3, then reopen Outlook:
         HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\RE7Outlook.Connect\LoadBehavior. 
      • Download and run Outlook.vbs on the problem workstation to verify connectivity to Microsoft Outlook. 
      • Remove the Outlook dll and reinstall:
        1. Remove the Outlook dll from the workstation. For help with this step, contact your IT department or computer professional.  
        2. Uninstall and reinstall the Raiser's Edge 7 on the workstation. 
        3. Re-add the Outlook dll from the workstation. For help with this step, contact your IT department or computer professional.
