Additional addressee/salutations are useful when the primary addressee and salutation are not suited to a particular situation.

For example, let's say you're preparing labels for a mailing to board members, and the meeting is not open to spouses. Generally, the primary addressee and primary salutation refer to both members of a couple, and will not work for this mailing. Solve the problem by adding a new additional addressee (for example, Board Addressee) to all board members.

When creating the labels in Mail, select the Fields to Include tab, highlight the field Constituent Information.Addressee in the Fields to Print frame, and click Options. Under Addressee/Salutation to Use, select From individual, click the drop-down, and select Board Addressee.
