Error: You do not have sufficient rights to complete this operation - when running or saving a query, report, or mailing function

Users may receive any of the following errors when running or saving a query, report, or mailing:
  • Error: You do not have sufficient rights to complete this operation
  • Error: You do not have sufficient rights to perform this function
  • Error: No Permission for Send to Word Mail Wizard
  • Error: You do not have permission to modify this query. Any changes made must be saved to a new query
This may occur for users who did not create the original report/query/mailing and/or are not members of the Supervisor security group.

Possible causes:
  • The user does not have security rights to this module or function
  • Another user created the parameter file and did not mark the 'Other users may run this [function]' or 'Other users may modify this [function]' checkboxes when saving the parameter file. For example, if running a report, the 'Other users may run this Report' checkbox must be marked to allow other users to run the report. If running a mailing, 'Other users may modify this Mailing' must be marked in order to use the Mail Merge Wizard.
Try each of the following steps in order until the issue is resolved:
  1. Modify the user's security group
    • If the user experiences the issue when running a query, mark 'Query' in the Group Privileges frame

    • If the user experiences the issue when running a report, mark 'Reports' in the Group Privileges frame and click Options. Mark the appropriate Report Types and Report Names.

    • If the user experiences the issue when running a mailing, mark 'Mail' in the Group Privileges frame and click Options. Mark the appropriate Mail Functions

    • Save the parameter file and allow other users to modify it:
      1. Open the existing parameter file

      2. Select File > Save As from the menu bar

      3. Enter a new name for the parameter file

      4. Mark the 'Other users may modify this [function]' and/or 'Other users may run this [function]' checkboxes

      5. Click OK
