• Create a static query (Query A) to be divided in half and note the number of unique keys created

       
    • Save the query using Save As to create a copy
       
    • In Query A or Query B (if using a copy), select Tools, Query Options from the menu bar
       
    • Select the Record Processing tab and mark Apply output limits

       
    • Select either:
         
        • Random sampling
        • Limit to top rows
        to create a random sample of the records from the query. In the No. of records to include field, enter half the number of unique keys created in step 1. For example, if 100 keys were created, enter 50.
        to select the first half of the query. In the Limit to field, enter half the number of unique keys created in step 1. For example, if 100 keys were created, enter 50.
       
      • Click OK and save Query B

         
      • Merge the queries The Raiser's Edge [The Education Edge or The Financial Edge] with Query A as the primary, Query B as the secondary, and SUB as the operator

         
      • Save the resulting query (Query C)


        Queries B and C each contain half the records of the original Query A.
