When creating or editing any ad-hoc query, all users are kicked out of the application

When creating or editing any type of ad-hoc query, the w3wp.exe process (application pool) is recycled and all users are kicked out of the application.  This only occurs when using MS .NET Framework 4.0 on the servers while selecting to include selections for the BBDW refresh process.
Download and install the latest patch which contains all fixes from previous patches. If you are running an older version, download and install the latest version and then the patch.

Alternative Solution:
  • Update Microsoft .NET Framework to v4.5 on the servers.
  • Temporarily disable the BBDW process from including selections.
  1. Browse to the following location from your database server: \\WEBSERVERNAME\Blackbaud\INSTALLNAME\bbappfx\MSBuild\Datamarts\bin
  2. Select the Blackbaud.AppFx.ReportDB.Installer application
  3. Click 'Edit Advanced Settings' and change the Include Selections option from True to False
  4. Redeploy the BBDW

The .NET upgrade solution will resolve the issue with the application pool recycling and kicking users out although you may still encounter errors when saving queries.
Using both of the above solutions should resolve all issues.
