The Raiser's Edge freezes when two users open the same Event Record

This is resolved in 7.96, patch 6, released in late 2017 and applied to databases in Blackbaud Hosting Services. If your database is installed locally, download and install the latest version and patch, if applicable.

To resolve this issue in patch 6 and above, there's a new Business Rule available in Config > Business Rules > Event Options: 
Event Options in Business Rules
  • Classic loading, sorting will work: Choose this option for general use of the Events module if no performance issues have been encountered. 
  • Fast loading, but sorting will not work: Choose this option if users have encountered performance issues with events in your database. May be useful for large events, or if multiple users need to access an event record at the same time (such as with the Mobile Event App). Note: this option disables sorting of the participant list in events. 

Steps to Duplicate

1) Log into client's database as Supervisor
2) Go to Records > Events
3) Open an Event record
4) With the event record still open, have a second User sign in with an account with Supervisor rights and open the same Event record
5) Try going to the Participants tab
