Error: Cannot connect to the Citrix XenApp server. The requested encryption level is not supported (SSL error 14)

After the certificate of a Citrix XenApp server was updated, some Windows 10 clients can't access the published applications anymore. This occurs when running Citrix Receiver 4.2 on a Windows 10 machine and trying to upgrade to a higher version.
This issue occurs when using the Citrix Receiver 4.2 or above while on the Windows 10 Operating System. This error occurs because they are not compatible with each other.

To temporarily correct this error message you will need to uninstall the Citrix Receiver and then download the Citrix Receiver from Blackbaud Hosting Services .

Please note: If this occurs on a version of Windows older than version 7, this operating system as well as the Citrix Online Plugin 12.3 are no longer supported by their Developers (Microsoft and Citrix) and to permanently correct this issue it is recommended to update the OS to a supported version.
