Note: As of July 9, 2018, Blackbaud’s School Management solutions (which include Core, onBoard, onCampus, onMessage, and onRecord) are utilizing a new top level navigation. This primarily affects users performing administrative tasks—constituent navigation for most parents, students, faculty, and alumni will remain the same. We appreciate your patience as we work to update our documentation. If you are seeing this message, the content of this solution is still being vetted for possible updates. Please refer to this mapping document if you need assistance finding a task in the new navigation.
Sign in messages are used to display important information to users immediately after signing in. Use the sign in message for information that requires higher visibility than an announcement on the portal. WhippleHill recommends using them sparingly as to not dilute their importance. Platform Managers can run reports to see who has read the message.
Sign in messages appear in a small window in the foreground of the page. The reader has two options: click Message Read or Show Me Next Time. If Message Read is selected, a confirmation will be saved in the database and the message will disappear. If Show Me Next Time is selected, then the message will continue to appear each time the user logs in, until it is acknowledged.
To create a sign in message:
From the persona menu, select Core.
Click Sign In Messages from the Users/Access drop down.
Click Add Sign In Message in the upper right corner.
In the Message Name field, choose a name for the message. Only Platform Managers will see this name.
Enter a Publish date and an Expiration date, for when you want the message to begin appearing and stop appearing.
Enter the message you would like to appear in the Message Detail field.
Select which roles you want to publish these messages to, and click Add to Selected Roles. You can select multiple roles if necessary.
Click Save & Exit.
Note: Once a user clicks Message Read, they will not see the message again, even if it is edited. If you are posting updates, expire or delete the original message and create a new message.
Note: Use the Messages Read report to view who has read the messages and when.
