When processing profile update transactions within The Raiser's Edge, updates containing business organization relationships may process without having all required fields answered. The required fields that may not have values are relationship and reciprocal relationship.
The update may process without warning the user of the required fields that are missing values.
This issue was evaluated by our Product Development team, and the decision has been made to leave the functionality as it exists. After careful consideration to the low impact to the NetCommunity system, and the availability of an alternative solution, we have determined that this issue will not be addressed currently in the Blackbaud NetCommunity software.
Alternative Solution: Check the relationships after the transaction has been processed, and update manually as needed.
Steps to Duplicate
Log in to NetCommunity as a user linked to an RE record
Navigate to a page with a profile form on it
Submit an update for the organization name.
Log in to The Raiser's Edge
Click Config > Fields
Click Organization Relationship
Mark the checkboxes to make the relationship and reciprocal relationship fields required
Click the NetCommunity button
Click the Profile Update link
Find the submitted profile update
Process transaction. Note: There is no prompt to stop the transaction from being processed due to missing required fields.
