When a gift giver is renewing a gift membership, if you try to change who the renewal notices send to, you may find that the change made in the Send renewal notice to field does not update on the membership record. This may occur with gift of membership renewals performed in the back office or through sales.
This issue has been resolved in version 4.8. All sites have been updated in March 2016.

Steps to Duplicate
From the gift giver's constituent record, select Add membership
In the Add membership window, select Giving membership to someone else
Change the Send renewal to field value to Primary member and complete payment
Go the the membership record
Select Other tasks
Select Edit renewal information
See that the Send renewal notice field value to is still set to Giver
