Ad-hoc query report filter is blank with no values

After creating an ad-hoc query report, a user may notice that a filter used in an ad-hoc query report is blank with no values.  
The values would need to be added to the report by editing it in SSRS:

1. Edit the report in report builder
2. Expand parameters and highlight status
3. Right click status and select 'parameter properties'
4. Go to available values and add one for each available value.
5. Hit ok and save the report in report builder.
