Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion - when activating the RE Mobile App on a server

When trying to activate The Raiser's Edge Mobile App on the server, the error message: Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion appears.
Verify the applicable ports in your firewall are open

If your firewall is blocking the incoming data and the correct ports are open, you may need to obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft .NET.  For additional information, visit Microsoft's website: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/839174. This is outside Blackbaud's Scope of Support.

Steps to Duplicate

  1. On the workstation you would like to install Blackbaud Web Services on, log into The Raiser’s Edge
  2. Click on Web Services in the navigation bar
  3. Look for the Blackbaud Web Services in the list
  4. If the Install Update link is active (blue) next to Blackbaud Web Services, click the link to install any applicable updates available
  5. Click the Blackbaud Web Services link
  6. If available, click Install Service at the top of the new window
  7. Choose the default location to install the Blackbaud Web Services
  8. Try to start The Raiser's Edge Mobile and it immediately stops
  9. Check Process Explorer and the error shows when the process stops
