Before following these steps, you should be familiar with the basic steps in the Print Membership Card Process. For more information on this process, review How to print member cards

Here are the steps to create a Print Membership Card Process for Gift Memberships that should be delivered to the Giver:
  1. Go to Memberships > Print Membership Cards
  2. Click Add to add a new process
  3. In the Add Print Membership Card Process Screen, name your process and add a description.
  4. Under Membership Program, select the Membership Program you are printing cards for.
  5. Under Print, select the radio button beside All "Issued" cards for selected constituents. Click the search icon.
  6. From the search screen, click Add to add a new query.
  7. Select the type of Ad-hoc and the source view of Constituents.
  8. From the left column, expand Member and highlight Membership. From the middle column, drag Is gift to Include Records Where. Set this equal to yes. Your field will appear like this "Member/Membership/Is gift is equal to Yes"
  9. Next, in the left column, expand Membership and highlight Membership Transaction. From the middle column, drag "Deliver To" to Include Records Where. Set this to be equal to the Giver. Your field will appear like this "Member/Membership/Membership Transaction/Deliver to is equal to Giver."
  10. You also may want to include a transaction date parameter to exclude members who may have previously received a gift membership with their member card delivered to the Giver. To do this, drag Transaction date (date only) from the middle column into Include Records Where. Set this to be equal to a reasonable parameter for which you will print membership cards for. Your field will appear similar to this: Member/Membership/Membership Transaction/Transaction date (date only) is one of This month, Last Month
  11. Save your query.
  12. In the Add a Print Membership Card Process Screen, select a card format to use. In your Card Format, we recommend using the following fields from the Membership Card header file in your letter:
    • GIVERADDRESS
    • GIVERCITY
    • GIVERSTATE
    • GIVERZIP
    • GIVERPRIMARYADDRESSEE
    • GIVERPRIMARYSALUTATION
  13. Save your process.

  3. Follow steps 10-11
  4. In the Add a Print Membership Card Process Screen, select a card format to use. In your Card Format, we recommend using the following fields from the Membership Card header file in your letter:
    • ADDRESS
    • CITY
    • STATE
    • ZIP
    • PRIMARYADDRESSEE
    • PRIMARYSALUTATION
    • GIFTMESSAGE
    • GIFTFROM
  5. Save your process.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure to run the gift membership card process first before other processes. It is possible that gift memberships may fall into other print card processes.

If you are exporting your cards and merging outside of Altru, you can use the "Is gift" column to separate the gift membership cards. You can also use the "Deliver to" column to determine where the membership card should be delivered.

If you need to change where the card should be delivered on a membership transaction, review this information:
When a gift membership is purchased, can I change who receives the member card?
