Error: This file could not be found C:\Program Files (x86)\...\BB69_1.DOC when performing a mail merge or word merge

When performing a mail merge or creating letters with UAC enabled on a machine running Office 2010, users may receive error: This file could not be found. ("C:\Program Files (x86)\...\BB69_1.DOC")
We are currently evaluating this issue and will update this article when we have more information.

Alternative Solution:
Ensure that NTFS permissions have been set to the Program Files\Blackbaud\The Financial Edge directory. For further information regarding NTFS permissions, see Which NTFS rights are required to run the software on workstations, Citrix or Terminal Servers?

If you still receive the error after checking the NTFS permissions, try one of the following: 
Run application as administrator: 
  1. Exit and sign out of The Education Edge
  2. Right click on The Education Edge icon you use to login in
  3. Select "Run as Administrator"
  4. Sign in as usual and run the mail merge again.


Disable UAC on the workstation: 

  1. Disable User Account Control (UAC)
  2. Restart the workstation
  3. Log back into the program and run the mail merge again.

Steps to Duplicate

1. With UAC enabled, in Education Edge, open an export in Blackbaud Simple Word Merge format.
2. Select Merge Now.
3. Enter the file name and click Save.
4. Receive error: This file could not be found. ("C:\Program Files (x86)\...\BB60_1.DOC")
