Error: Sphere Error: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channeL Check Configuration / Sphere connecton - when attempting to run a synch

When attempting to run a connector synch, the following error may display in the connector log: 

Sphere Error: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channeL Check Configuration / Sphere connection

Resulting in the synch not starting.

This error is related to a known issue with Windows Server 2003 and the SHA256 algorithm for SSL certificates. A hotfix for Windows Server 2003 was released to remedy this error and can be downloaded here. The hotfix must be installed on server used to host The Raiser's Edge.
