I am implementing web services for data synchronization and reporting. Is data aggregation through web services an appropriate use of the services?
Luminate Web Services was designed to provide incremental, transactional level access to Luminate Online data. The typical setup would involve a middleware server that performs the incremental requests through web services, processes the returned data using defined business logic, and then inserts the processed data into an offline database or analytics system. Using web services as an incremental data collection tool enhances performance over aggregate functions. Once the data has been retrieved from Luminate Online and inserted into the offline database or analytics system, aggregate reporting could be performed across all of the data.
