If you need to add a department to show in the drop-down on the Accounting Information tab, the employee data item is .H DEPT.
If you need to add a department to show in the drop-down on the Payroll Information tab, the employee data item is .HM DEPT.
 
  1. From Payroll, select Setup, and select Employee Data Items.
  2. Type C to Change and type the item you want to change, either .H DEPT or .HM DEPT.
  3. Type 5 for the field to change and press Enter,
  4. Type A to Add, type the short name for the new department, and press Enter.  (It might be helpful to first type D to Display an existing department, to see what your current setup is for the Lookup values.)
  5. Press Enter, type the description for the new department, and press Enter.
  6. Type the account number for the new department, and press Enter.
  7. Press ESC, type E to End, type 0 to accept and press Enter.
  8. Press ESC, and type E to End.
