Error: The specified event could not be found. The event has either been deleted or you do not have rights to view it - when event info is set to Automatically Display in Batch

When entering event transactions in Batch, event information can be automatically displayed in a gift batch for one event. If event records display as ID instead of name/description and the specified event is changed, the following message may occur: The specified event could not be found. The event has either been deleted or you do not have rights to view it.

We have evaluated this issue as a bug and we have determined it will not be addressed in the program in its current state.  In this case, we believe the risks and challenges outweigh the potential benefit of resolving this issue. Alternate Solution
Use event description instead of event ID to display event names:
  1. Log into The Raiser's Edge.
  2. Go to Tools > User Options.
  3. Click on the Records tab.
  4. Highlight Events on the left.
  5. In the bottom right Event format drop-down, select Event name.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Set up batch to automatically display event in a gift batch.

Steps to Duplicate

In the sample Raiser's Edge database:
  1. From Home Page, click to Tools in top menu and select User Options.
  2. Click on Records tab.
  3. Highlight Events in left list.
  4. Set bottom drop-down to Event ID.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Go to Batch and start a new Gift batch.
  8. In batch set-up on Batch Header tab, for Automatically display select Event Registration Fees.
  9. Click binoculars to the right.
  10. Enter Afternoon Tea in Event Name field.
  11. Click Find Now.
  12. Double click on event in results to add.
  13. Click Data Entry.
  14. Add the following gift:
    • Constituent Name: Robert Hernandez
    • Amount: $1.00
    • Date: Today's date
    • Type: Cash
    • Fund: Annabelle Johnson Endowment Fund
    • GL Post Date: Today's date
    • GL Post Status: Not Posted
  15. When tabbing off the last field to start next row, the Pay Registration Fees screen will appear.
  16. Click New Registration in upper left
  17. In the new window, click the binoculars keeping Registrant selected.
  18. Search for PASTA in Event ID field.
  19. Click Find Now.
  20. Double click on event in results to add to the screen.
  21. Click OK.
  22. Error occurs.
