Error: An exception was thrown - when sending email membership renewals

When clicking start email job on your membership renewal, you may receive the error "An exception was thrown".
To resolve this error, please follow the steps below: 
  1. From Marketing and Communications, click Email marketing, then View emails
  2. 1-month Renewal Email
    1. Expand -> Edit
    2. Delete "Membership level" merge field.
    3. Re-add Membership level merge field (it will display as "MemshpEffMemshpMkt_Membership level").
    4. Delete "Expiration date" merge field.
    5. Re-Add Expiration date merge field (it will display as "MemshpEffExpMemshpMkt_Expiration date").
    6. Save
  3. Expired Renewal Email
    1. Expand -> Edit
    2. Delete "Membership level" merge field.
    3. Re-add Membership level merge field (it will display as "MemshpEffExpMemshpMkt_Membership level").
    4. Save
  4. Month of Expiration Renewal Email
    1. Expand -> Edit
    2. Delete "Membership level" merge field.
    3. Re-add Membership level merge field (it will display as "MemshpEffExpMemshpMkt_Membership level").
    4. Save
  5. Renewal emails should now send.

If the above steps don't work then you may need to create a new export definition from scratch for your letter:
  1. From the Marketing and Communications tab, Select Export Definitions
  2. Click Add, select Membership Renewal
  3. Highlight "Expiration Date" and "Membership level" in the far right field. Then Click the red "X" to remove them. 
  4. Click Membership Marketing node on the far left.
  5. From the field in the center, drag and drop "membership level" and "expiration date" into the far right field. 
  6. Add any other fields that you want for your letter that do not appear in the far right field. 
  7. Rename in set save options.
  8. Save


 

Steps to Duplicate

  1. From Memberships, click the Membership program
  2. Select Membership renewal notices status 
  3. Click start email job
  4. When the job is Finished, click View email job status detail
  5. Select job with error and click more detail button to see the below information
