This primarily affects users performing administrative tasks-constituent navigation for most parents, students, faculty, and alumni will remain the same. We appreciate your patience as we work to update our documentation. If you are seeing this message, the content of this solution is still being vetted for possible updates. Please refer to this mapping document if you need assistance finding a task in the new navigation.
If an attendance manager changes the default Absent Unexcused attendance type to an Excused attendance type, the software still behaves as if that is an Unexcused absences type.
The result is, once a teacher records attendance using the changed default absent type, the teacher cannot go back in and edit that attendance type whereas normally they can edit it.
The attendance manager can inadvertently make this change in in onRecord > Settings > Attendance > Attendance Types > Absent.
Tip: Since the default Absent - Excused has no sort order number, it always appears as the first Absent attendance type.
Example of the default Absent Unexcused attendance type inadvertently changed to an Excused attendance type.
Example of how the default Absent attendance type needs to look:
Note: As an attendance manager, you have access to change the title of the Absent reason and Excused/Unexcused. However, it is best to keep the Excused/Unexcused set to Unexcused.
