Using the Blackbaud Management Console, you can rebuild database indexes. When you make changes to data that affect database indexes, information in the database can become scattered, much like the way a hard drive can become fragmented with use. By rebuilding the indexes, you reorganize the storage of the index data to remove fragmentation. This can improve disk performance by reducing the number of page needs (with respect to Virtual Memory) required to obtain the requested data.
- Have all users exit and sign out of the software
- At the server, open the Blackbaud Management Console
- Highlight the Maintenance option under the database to be rebuilt
- Click Rebuild Indexes
- Select the appropriate options and click Rebuild
