Note: For each academic year, you can select to track attendance by class or day, or by day only.

Note: Academic years can also be copied from year to year. For more information, see How to copy an academic year (BB222646).

  1. On the Configuration page>click Academic Years.
  2. On the action bar, click New Academic Year.

  1. On the New Academic Year screen, select the school and academic year.
  2. Enter the description, start date, and end date.
    Note: An academic year cannot span more than 365 days.
  3. In the Track attendance by field, select Class or Day, or select Day only
    • If you select Class or Day, you can enter and report on both class and full-day attendance in the academic year.
    • If you select Day only, you can enter and report on half-day and full-day
      attendance in the academic year.
  4. To define a session, click New Session. Sessions are time frames within an academic year that have different schedules, such as Regular Session and Summer Session.
  5. Required fields are Sessions, Marking Columns, and Timetable
    • To add a new marking column set, leave the field blank and click the magnifying glass.
    • To view details of a marking column set, select the marking column set and click the magnifying glass.
  6. In the Days in session grid, mark the days of the calendar week that classes can meet.
    Note: You cannot edit the Days in session grid after classes are created.
  7. In the View only marking columns in grades box, you can mark checkboxes to make marking columns uneditable in Grades.
  8. Select the Terms tab.
    Note: Terms are the time frame in which classes can meet in a session. For example, Fall, Spring, Trimester 1, Trimester 2, Trimester 2, Quarter 1, Quarter 2, Quarter 3, or Quarter 4.
  9. Enter your terms in chronological order as follows: Select the term and enter the start date, end date, and withdrawal date. Select the first day of cycle.
    Note: You cannot edit the start date or first day of cycle of a term after attendance exists in the term
  10. Select the Scheduling Calendar tab to enter the dates school does not meet and the dates with a different cycle day than calculated. If you mark In Session, the Cycle Day column is enabled. In the Cycle Day column, enter the cycle day for the date. This resets the sequence of subsequent dates in the scheduling calendar.
  11. To save the session, click OK.
