MD5 is not supported when submitting an Online Gift Aid Submission to HMRC

After starting an R68 Process in Blackbaud CRM and submitting your file to HMRC, you may note an error that reads the following:
An error occurred before executing the process 'R68 Online Submission Business Process' : MD5 is not supported, please contact your software supplier.

On April 20th 2019, HMRC will reject transmission files where the authentication information is not sent in an appropriate manner. Currently Blackbaud CRM will MD5 hash the password before transmitting to HMRC. This method is no longer supported.
In order to submit Online Gift Aid Submissions after April 20th 2019 you will need to update to the latest Service Pack before this date. In Service Pack 19 when generating the request to transmit submission to HMRC, the entire request will now be encrypted with TLS 1.2 without MD5 hashing. Although TLS 1.2 is the default encryption version used for the submission, it will roll down to TLS 1.1 if TLS 1.2 is not enabled. We do highly suggest updating to TLS 1.2 if you haven’t done so already.  For more information see the guidance from the National Cyber Security Centre at
